Clean Earth Restorations brings proper hazardous waste and biohazard removal equipment
Do you have hazardous waste or a potential biohazard on your property? If you're unsure whether to call a professional hazardous waste or biohazard disposal service, the answers to our frequently asked questions will help you decide.

1. What is classified as hazardous waste or a biohazard?

Federal (OSHA) regulations deem all bodily fluids to be a bio-hazard. Any and all blood, tissue, or fluids are considered a potential source of infection and contamination.

2. What are the sources of hazardous waste and biohazards?

Biohazards are a common result of situations like homicide, suicide, accidental death, and decomposition. However, sewage spills and accidents that include bodily fluids, both human and animal are also sources of potential biohazards and hazardous waste.

3. Why are biohazards and hazardous waste dangerous?

In cases of a death or accident where blood is present (biohazard), there's a risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens (BBP) and biohazards ranging from viruses like HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis A & B, Salmonella, Ecoli, Tuberculosis, Cholera, Influenza A, H1N1, and more. (According to the CDC, 1 in 24 people has either Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, or HIV.)

Because of these potential hazards, it's crucial that anyone entering the area have proper equipment (PPE) and training.  So, it's recommended you do everything you can to stay out of the affected area, and instead, opt to hire a professional clean-up service.

4. Why do I need professional hazardous waste or biohazard disposal?

A trained professional will know which special protective equipment and expertise are needed to prevent illness or infection while ensuring all contaminates are properly cleaned for the long term.

Improper treatment of blood and bodily fluids can lead to further health and safety risks, including outbreaks, and structural damage to the property in question. If a blood spill is only spot cleaned and treated with a topical solution, the affected area is not truly disinfected.

At best, cleaning the surface suppresses the lingering bacteria. But at worst, it leaves behind entire sections where blood or fluid pools beneath carpets or floors. In this case, unpleasant odors and bacterial growth are likely.

A proper biohazard cleanup and remediation service will mitigate or remove these concerns.

5. How do I choose a professional hazardous waste or biohazard disposal service?

The American Bio-Recovery Association (ABRA) is the only third-party non-profit organization dedicated to the education and certification of technicians and companies in the Bio Recovery Industry.

When choosing a hazardous waste or biohazard disposal service, look for their ABRA Certification. This will mean their specialists are properly trained in bio-recovery, as well as hazardous waste clean up and disposal.
